Supporting the local community in Wolverhampton

Inspired by the profound Sikh values of langar (the free community kitchen) and sewa (selfless service), our mission is to provide physical, educational, and spiritual nourishment for all members of our community, with a special focus on those who are vulnerable or isolated.

Our Core Services

We are dedicated to creating a vibrant and inclusive hub that will:

  • Combat food insecurity by providing hot, nourishing, and freshly prepared vegetarian meals to the less fortunate, following the sacred tradition of langar and ensuring no one goes hungry.
  • Strengthen community bonds by offering a welcoming space for individuals of all backgrounds—men and women, rich and poor—to congregate, share a meal, pray, and grow together in a spirit of harmony and equality.
  • Preserve and promote Punjabi culture by establishing and operating a dedicated Punjabi school for children, ensuring the rich linguistic and cultural heritage is passed down to the next generation.
  • ⁠Eradicate elderly isolation by providing a dedicated meeting space and programming for seniors, creating a supportive and social environment where they can build meaningful connections and find companionship.
  • ⁠Foster togetherness and shared experiencethrough organized "away days" and social events that encourage community members to connect, support one another, and build lasting friendships outside of the regular kitchen activities.
  • Uplift and empower through selfless service (sewa) by creating a hub for volunteering that welcomes all, regardless of background, and fosters a sense of collective purpose and humility through community work.
  • Extend outreach beyond our walls by collaborating with other local organizations, including food banks and homeless shelters, to ensure our services reach those who need them most.
  • Commit to compassion and transparency by ensuring that all donations are used effectively to serve the community, with a focus on inspiring others to join our mission of serving humanity.

Based at Pickering Road Community Centre

We are based at Pickering Road Community Centre in Wolverhampton. Our community hall has a main area where we have a prayer space and there is kitchen area where we prepare fresh vegetarian food. 

Every Sunday we perform prayers, kirtan, ardaas, and langar from 4pm - 6pm. Everyone is welcome.
